Gone To Glory

One of the most helpful commentators on the Bible that I ever read was a man named D. Martyn Lloyd Jones. He was a medical doctor in his early years but the last 30 years of his life he was a preacher and wrote books on spiritual themes. When he was near to death he lost the ability to speak. He let them know he did not want anyone to pray for him anymore. On the piece of paper he wrote, "Do not hold me back from glory."

I have noticed that it is the family that has a hard time giving up their loved ones to death. We want the doctors to do everything possible to keep our loved ones alive at all costs. Five doctors told us Janice could not live long without a pacemaker. We prayed and discussed it as a family and decided against it. Since Janice didn't know us we decided to put her in God's hands. If it was her time God would take her. As it has turned out she has lived two years and is happy. Death is not the worst thing!

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." (Ps. 116:15). Paul said that our ultimate destination is "to be with Christ, which is far better." (Phil. 1:23). So, be willing to let your loved ones go on to glory!
