Light It Up With Praise

A few weeks ago I found a flash light online that can light up the night at 2,600 feet away and last for 20 hours on one charge. The flashlight produces 6000 Lumens if you are curious. It was on sale so I thought, why not? I thought this light should be awesome on trips and around the house. It arrived just before we departed for a trip to the lake for the weekend.

The first time I used it, I could shine it across Cordell Hull lake and completely light up the bank on the other side. Light in darkness is always amazing to me. Scripture compares light and darkness over and over and what better way to visualize contrasts?

Did you know that God gives us a way to turn on a spotlight that will permeate the darkest of times? Did you know that you can be in the darkest of days and by recognizing the awesome power of praising God, a beam of freedom is provided to allow you to transform that setting into Light (Good). God is above all, through all, and in us all. He is sufficient in all things and fills our deepest voids. Praising Him renews and revitalizes in ways that we cannot explain.

When is the last time you truly stopped to worship and praise God for who He is and all of His characteristics? Perhaps the last time was in a back room at your house, perhaps it was in the car driving home from work, perhaps it was on the lawnmower listening to your favorite praise and worship band. Perhaps it was in a setting with other brothers and sisters collectively shaking the rafters with emotion and praise.

David wrote the following song of praise and worship to the one and only God of everything. Let’s turn on the light of worship and watch God move.

A song of David.
103 My soul, praise the Lord!
Every part of me, praise his holy name!
2 My soul, praise the Lord
and never forget how kind he is!
3 He forgives all our sins
and heals all our sicknesses.
4 He saves us from the grave,
and he gives us love and compassion.
5 He gives us plenty of good things.
He makes us young again,
like an eagle that grows new feathers.
6 The Lord does what is fair.
He brings justice to all who have been hurt by others.
7 He taught his laws to Moses.
He let Israel see the powerful things he can do.
8 The Lord is kind and merciful.
He is patient and full of love.
9 He does not always criticize.
He does not stay angry with us forever.
10 We sinned against him,
but he didn’t give us the punishment we deserved.
11 His love for his followers is
as high above us as heaven is above the earth.
12 And he has taken our sins
as far away from us as the east is from the west.
13 The Lord is as kind to his followers
as a father is to his children.
14 He knows all about us.
He knows we are made from dust.
15 He knows our lives are short, that they are like grass.
He knows we are like a little wildflower that grows so quickly,
16 but when the hot wind blows, it dies.
Soon, you cannot even see where the flower was.
17 But the Lord has always loved his followers,
and he will continue to love them forever and ever!
He will be good to all their descendants,
18 to those who are faithful to his agreement
and who remember to obey his commands.
19 The Lord set his throne up in heaven,
and he rules over everything.
20 Angels, praise the Lord!
You angels are the powerful soldiers who obey his commands.
You listen to him and obey his commands.
21 Praise the Lord, all his armies.[a]
You are his servants,
and you do what he wants.
22 Everything the Lord has made should praise him
throughout the world that he rules!
My soul, praise the Lord!

Light it up with praise and watch Him move.
Praying many blessings your way this week.
