Faith and Positive Living
One of the most famous books in the past 50 years was "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale. It was published in 1952 and has sold 5 million copies and was translated into 15 languages. The book was designed to create absolute self-confidence in the individual. It was described by some as "self-hypnosis".
Many people think that faith and positive thinking is the same thing. It is certainly a good thing to have a upbeat, optimistic outlook on life. In fact, it is emotionally healthy. It will in fact help you, to think positively. Too many Christians have I met during my ministry who view life through dark and gloomy glasses.
There is no power inherent in positive thinking. Only faith has built-in authority. Rom. 10:11 shows the authority inherent in faith, "Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed." We are to believe in Him. Our faith is no better than its object, who is Jesus. Indeed, "the righteous man shall live by faith." (Rom. 1:17)
