Spiritual Vision

About two years ago I bit the bullet and had my cataracts removed. I had put it off because of the fear of the process and I also didn't think I needed it. But that proved to be one of the best things I ever did medically. Before I got home from the first procedure I realized how blind I had been. In that one eye my vision was so sharp and the colors were so vivid I could hardly believe it. My far away vision was 20/20 and I didn't need my glasses. In the next two years my up close vision actually diminished so I continued to wear my glasses.
It seems to me that Christians who have known the Lord for a long time or who have gone through great trials have a better heavenly vision than the rest of us. And as their eternal vision gets better and better their close up earthly vision diminishes.
Paul explains spiritual vision in II Cor. 4:17-18, "For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
Help us Lord to keep our eyes fixed on the prize!
