Victory Over Peer Pressure

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of political correctness. We are intimidated by our society into keeping our mouths shut about what we believe is right and good. We cave in because we don't want to appear intolerant in our thinking. Actually, it is our inability to handle peer pressure. Rather than saying our true convictions we base our decisions on what other people will say or think of us rather than what will please God.

In the book of Galatians we learn that many of the Jewish Christians believed that Gentiles should be circumcised to be saved. Peer pressure on Paul was very strong. But Paul continued to preach that salvation was by grace through faith for that was what God's truth really was.

Despite the peer pressure Paul was clear about where he stood, "For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men I would not be a bond servant of Christ." (Gal. 1:10) We need to make pleasing God our main concern. When we do we will hear Christ say, "Well done good and faithful servant." (Matt. 25:23)
