Tales from the Trail: #7 The Tomb is Full

Scripure Reading: Mark 15:40-47
Prayer: Easter Prayer

Uncertainty.

What’s next?

That is the tenor of Holy Saturday.  Let’s check in with Mary Magdalene, as we reflect on the day that the tomb was full.   (Read this in the voice of Danielle Cason as she speaks through tears in sad and uncertain tones.)

I guess you heard.  They killed him.

He’s dead.

But, why?  How could they?  He never hurt anyone.

I wouldn’t know what love was if it wasn’t for him.  He accepted me, a sinner, and showed me a better way.  Now this.

How can it be?

I believed Jesus was the one, the anointed one from God who would change everything.  It’s kind of hard to believe that now.  I don’t know what to think.  I believed he would change the world, but now he is dead.

Oh, God hear my prayer.  You have raised our hopes.  We believed he was the one.  We still want to believe, but he is dead.  Show us what to believe.  Restore our faith.

It is dark now, but we pray for light.

Night has fallen, but we long for the morning sun.

Now what?

What are we supposed to do now?

God, what are you going to do next?

May God be with you today as we ask these questions.

Today the one in whom we live, move and have our being is dead.

Wes
